Designed to have low production and maintenance costs, this pen marker head uses an inexpensive tubular solenoid to provide four vertical pen positions. It also includes a cap/de-cap function and uses a common felt-tip marker for a refill. This pen marker head was designed and built as part of a larger development effort for a medical diagnostic device.

Production line process development
This project involved close collaboration with client personnel to develop an automated production line for a largely manual, proprietary process with the goal of dramatically increasing throughput and product consistency. It involved preliminary design of operator work stations, conveyor line layout, multiple cure oven designs, a product carrier system, and stacking/de-stacking stations. A process flow simulation was done to optimize workflow and conveyor layout between process stations.
Prototype thermal platen
Designed and fabricated in-house, this thermal platen system was part of a breadboard used to test performance and feasibility of a new production process for integrated circuits. Precision-controlled temperature stations, used in assembly and testing, were part of a bigger development of a new electronic chip production machine.
